Juvenile Advocacy and Mentorship (JAM)

JAM is OJN flagship program designed to prevent youth misconduct through support and mentorship provided by people with lived experience of the juvenile and criminal legal systems. Through lived experience and training in the risk and protective factors of youth development, JAM mentors relate to and understand why youth act out.

night sports

Night Sports is a late-night event series providing a safe, fun, and empowering space for youth. It includes basketball, music, dance, free food, barbers, mentors, and mental health resources—all operating during the high-risk hours of 6:30–10:30 p.m. More than recreation, Night Sports is a strategy—keeping youth off the streets and building connections that save lives. It’s earned trust citywide, becoming a critical tool for violence prevention and community building.

public speaking

Speaking through both lived experience and best practices, OJN offers public speaking, engagement, and coaching to providers, clients, students, action councils, and policy makers on topics related to the negative social determinates of health that have shown to contribute to youth and adult criminal legal system involvement.
